Its probably the biggest talking point in British tennis at the moment. Not long until the GB team is announced and so I thought I would ask you the British tennis fans what you think?
Andy Murray is guaranteed his spot (if you don't think so then you may have been on the Christmas Sherry already!!)
So who will take the other singles spot? Lets have a quick look at the contenders
James Ward: Loves Davis Cup and has played some of his best tennis in DC and helped Britain earlier in the tournament with that win over John Isner. Not in great form though and struggling to get wins. The Indian Challenger's that he did well in recently were in my opinion very weak fields
Aljaz Bedene: The Slovenian turned Brit is waiting to hear about his appeal to be able to represent Team GB now that he has changed his nationality. If the appeal fails then its an easy decision... but if successful and Aljaz is cleared to play then there is no doubt he has the most experience at ATP level, most clay court experience and also ATP top 50 so would be difficult to say no!
Kyle Edmund: Young talent, re-entered the ATP top 100 this week with a fine clay court ATP Challenger win last week in Buenos Aires defeating a whole host of decent clay court players. Many think Kyle's lack of experience is a problem with no Davis Cup matches under his belt.? I think he is the futures of British tennis and we need to give him chances at these major events... it could be the making of him.
Dan Evans: The often named 'bad boy' of British tennis is back on form. Rising nearly 600 places in the ATP rankings since July Dan last week won the ATP Knoxville Challenger title with some solid wins. But is Dan suited to clay, does he like the surface? He has played many Davis Cup ties but hasn't always had the success to stake a claim for a place on the Belgian clay. Dan is more suited to hardcourts and he may be better focusing on 2016 ATP Tour and collecting points to get into ATP events and Grand Slams etc.
