He won the Davis Cup last month with Great Britain and today Kyle Edmund gained direct entry into the first Grand Slam Tournament of the year.
Originally the 20 year old was 3 places outside direct entry and looked like he may have to go through qualifying again to try and reach the Australian Open. However 3 players have pulled out already with injury so Kyle has managed to sneak in with plenty of time to spare. The Brit owes Richard Gasquet, Juan Monaco and Thanasi Kokkinakis a drink each as these were the 3 players who pulled out.
Kyle Edmund joins Andy Murray, Aljaz Bedene, Heather Watson and Johanna Konta as fellow direct entries. Fingers crossed they all get good draws!
