It was Stan Wawrinka that started the brightest in the all-Swiss battle in the 2nd semi-final of the ATP World Finals. The outsider took a 4-2 lead in the 1st set but in true Federer style Roger was not going to give up the set easily and roared back confidently to win 5 of the next 6 games of the 1st set to take it 7-5. The 2nd set continued the same way and Roger forged to a 7-5 3-0 lead and from then on there wasn't much chance of a comeback from Stan.
Federer took the match 7-5 6-3 and will be happy the match was over at a reasonable time and not with too much energy wasted as tomorrow he will face a much tougher task in the form of Novak Djokovic.
We all know a few days ago that Federer took what looked a simple win in the round robin stages of the tournament, but Sunday's final could be a lot tougher for Roger.
Motivation is high for both players. Novak Djokovic is looking to win the tournament 4 times in a row, however Roger Federer is trying to end the year as world number 2 ahead of Andy Murray as well as win his 7th ATP Tour Final Trophy.
Lets hope it is a cracker!
