Maria Sharapova showed glimpses of why she is a former world number 1 as she defeated Karolina Pliskova 6-3 6-4 in Prague to level the tie 1-1 between Russia and Czech Republic in the Federation Cup final.
Sharapova was the first to break in the match and taking a 4-2 lead looked like she would push on but numerous double faults in the next game gave the break straight back .Maria regained control and took the opening set 6-3.
At 6-3 4-3 up the Russian fought back from 0-40 down to hold and then comfortably served out the match for a 6-3 6-4 victory.
Tomorrow will see the two number 1 players for each country battle it out as Sharapova faces Kvitova..... should be a cracker
See you there!
